Council Tax Benefit will become the responsibility of Oadby & Wigston Borough Council when central Government reduces national funding in April 2013.

The Government currently funds a national Council Tax Benefit scheme that supports those on low incomes with a contribution (up to 100%) towards their council tax bill.

With approximately £370,000 less funding than the Government currently provides, Oadby & Wigston Borough Council face the challenge of developing a new scheme to replace the current Council Tax Benefit.

Councillor Sharon Morris said 'Oadby and Wigston Borough Council is committed to protecting vulnerable persons, however we have some tough decisions to make in light of funding changes and we would like to know your views on our proposed new Council Tax support scheme.'
